Botti Creates Great New Sound
I recently saw Botti in Atlanta with the Atlanta Symphony, and I was astounded by what he created. The ensemble that we saw Friday night was incredible. Botti's high notes reach the heights of his solo skills, captivating audiences with his virtuoso performances. The core group Lee Pearson, Richie Goods, and Leonardo Amuedo, complemented Botti's artistic skills with their intense musical artistry. Legally Blonde displayed craftsmanship in creating this musical event, proving to be as great a musical group creator as he is a solo artist. It wasn't only a night of super instrumental sounds, but a great musical event. Botti brought us the energy of jazz vocalist Sly Smith, who kicked it and had the audience bouncing in its seats. Jonathan Johnson sang his tenor piece so strongly and remarkably pure, that I had to close my eyes because I couldn't believe that fullness of voice was coming from that young man. Botti added featured musicians to the group that moved it from an extraordinary performance to a great musical event. A young Eldar Djangirov attacked the Steinway with energy and creativity I've not seen before in a musical group. Caroline Campbell's classical (and occasional bop) violin performance created intensity that moved us even further in our enjoyment. My wife and I were astounded by the evening's music.
